Day 84 - Terrace - Skeena River

Had some coffee with Geoff and then FaceTimed Phoebe. I knew it was going to be a fairly short day as I had 2 days to complete the final 90 miles or so of my nemesis, Highway 16, into Prince Rupert.

Went to a cafe in town for another coffee and some breakfast and then hit the road after calling in at the local bike shop.

This had been forecast to be the best day of the week and it was nice to ride in some proper sunshine for the first time in what seemed like forever. It also allowed for full views of the surrounding mountains rather than having them hidden by mist and low cloud - which has been one of the disappointments of riding in the poor weather.

A pretty easy run along the river valley with lots of opportunities to stop for photos. Although I was still suffering from stomach cramps which were uncomfortable throughout the day. Stopped at a little grassy area next to the river for a lie down and ended up falling asleep for a bit - pretty nice in the sun.

Found a quiet spot off the highway by a boat launch to set up the tent. A real struggle to get any food in as I had very little appetite. Probably as much to do with being sick of rice packets as I’d managed the steak last night fine.

Lots of mosquitos so retreated to the tent early to listen to podcasts.
