Day 6 - Wickenburg - Tempe

Another early start only to be rewarded with a pretty unpleasant experience riding along Highway 60 to reach the suburban sprawl of metro Phoenix. Stopped for a drink and was told by the cashier to ‘get out of here’, which apparently translated as don’t worry about paying - nice little gesture.

I wasn’t due at the Warmshowers host until late afternoon so I had plenty of time to make my way across the city, and do some jobs - including getting some new bar tape. I’d been struggling a bit with pain in my right hand so it was a relief to get some extra padding.

Turns out I needed most of the available time as Phoenix is absolutely enormous. Stayed with a lovely family Ryan, Jenn and Ada. Really interesting tales of Brompton racing, hiking and rafting. I even got to ride a Brompton to the pasty shop for dinner. Slept for 8.5 hours - bliss.
