Day 80 - Meziadin - Bonus Lake Rec Site

Today was forecast to be wet and sure enough woke up to heavy rain, which only added to the fairly miserable aesthetic. The weather and the fact it would be another day of retracing my steps meant I was not rushing to hit the road. 

Got kitted out in full rain gear - including wearing my waterproof trousers for the first time this trip. Although they lasted about half an hour before getting annoyed with how hot my legs were getting so opted for getting wet instead. 

A little way down the road a truck coming the other way pulled over and warned me there was a Sow and cubs round the corner. I approached with excitement and apprehension but they had disappeared into the bush by the time I got there. 

The rest of the ride was pretty uneventful with the exception of getting wetter and wetter feet. Pulled into the rec site, which was a nice secluded spot on the lake. Raced to get the tent up before it got too wet and I got eaten alive by the resident mosquitos. Spent the rest of the afternoon napping to the pitter patter of water on nylon. 

Forced myself into braving the elements and the bugs to make a quick dinner before retreating back under cover.
